Leeds United are reportedly considering parting company with manager Javi Gracia as they continue to battle against relegation from the Premier League - and two former Newcastle United figures are under consideration to replace him.

The Whites suffered a 4-1 defeat at Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon to leave themselves deep in trouble at the wrong end of the table. Ahead of next weekend’s visit to current leaders Manchester City, Gracia’s side are only being kept out of the bottom three by goal difference as the former Watford manager continues to struggle to make an impact following his surprise appointment in February.

The latest blow to their hopes of preserving their Premier League status has led the Leeds board to consider another change in the dugout, with The Guardian suggesting the Leeds hierachy are discussing the possibility of replacing Gracia, who was handed a ‘flexible contract’ when he succeeded Jesse Marsch.

Former caretaker boss Michael Skubula is a possible short-term replacement after taking charge ahead of Gracia’s arrival and is said to be ‘well regarded by both senior players and club executives’ at Elland Road. However, former Magpies manager Alan Pardew and one-time United midfielder Lee Bowyer are both said to be ‘possible options’ to step into the role should Gracia be sacked.

Since ending a four-year reign at St James Park to join Crystal Palace in January 2015, Pardew has managed West Bromwich Albion, ADO Den Haag, CSKA Sofia and Greek club Aris Thessloniki, leaving the latter earlier this year. Bowyer’s managerial career has been more limited, with the former Leeds midfielder spending time in charge of Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City over the last five years.
