Newcastle United co-owner Amanda Staveley has taken to social media to share her appreciation for the club’s supporters this season.

Staveley along with her husband and fellow co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi have been in Saudi Arabia for at least the last few days most likely on business for the club.

Last week it was announced United had renewed its partnership with airline company, Saudia, with the promise of ‘exclusive offers and experiences’ for fans of the North East club, as well as playing an active role in ‘expanding’ the route network - there are not currently any direct flights between Newcastle Airport and Saudi Arabia.

The trip meant the couple missed the Magpies’ 4-0 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday, with Ghodoussi taking to social media to ask Saudi fans for the best place to watch the match in Riyadh.

And now Staveley has posted a loving message to Instagram sharing her appreciation for fans while highlighting the impact of the community on the club.

“So looking forward to coming home to Newcastle - but wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of our incredible fans for the support for both our men’s and women’s teams over this season,” Staveley wrote.

“I’m always humbled and will be forever thankful for the passion and appreciation that you show our talented men and women. The love and respect you demonstrate to our whole NUFC community at every game makes such an impact on our results - and makes us such formidable opponent. Thank you.”

Newcastle United face Borussia Dortmund at home on Wednesday night (8 pm kick-off) in the third match of the Champions League group stage.
