Louis Saha believes Manchester United should sign £63million talisman Alexander Isak this summer.

Newcastle United broke the bank to lure the Swede from Real Sociedad less than two years ago. Isak has since proven himself as one of the Premier League’s top strikers, with 27 top-flight strikes in 46 games.

He has also struck up a formidable bond with Toon fans - strengthened further by a brace against bitter rivals Sunderland in January. The 24-year-old outlined his desire to stay on Tyneside when grilled by the media in recent weeks.

“Yeah, of course, I want to be here in the future,” Isak said three weeks ago. “I came here for the project, I absolutely love playing here, I really feel at home. I want to finish this season in a good way for me and the team. I love playing here.”

That has not stopped transfer speculation circulating suggesting the likes of Arsenal are keeping tabs on the striker. Former Man United and Newcastle forward Saha has urged the Red Devils - who are yet to reach a compensation package for sporting director Dan Ashworth - to sign Isak.

“He’s a top player and he’s really raised his game this season,” he told Betfred. “His link-up play is very good, he’s very sharp, he can create chances for himself cutting in from the left or right and he’s got a lot of flair. It’s a great combination.

“He’s a tall guy, so he could definitely be a better target man in the box, but he can certainly play with other strikers and with the wingers Newcastle have, he’s proven how well he can link up with them.

“If he’s available this summer, I believe he could be a really good addition for Manchester United.”
