Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita. The Guinea international is the latest name to be linked with a move to St. James’ Park.

According to a report by Milan Live, the player has attracted ‘attention’ from the Toon Army. Fellow Premier League side West Ham United and Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have also been mentioned as potential suitors, with the report stating that the player ‘likes’ a return to Germany.

Keita has decent pedigree and would provide Eddie Howe with more competition in the middle of the park. His contract at Anfield expires at the end of the season meaning his current club risk losing him for free in June 2023 if they don’t sell him in January or can agree terms of a contract extension.

Keita, 27, joined the Merseyside outfit back in 2018 and has since made 117 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side in all competitions to date, chipping in with 11 goals. He has helped the Reds win the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League during his time at the club.

However, his game time has dried up this term mainly due to injury woes and he has only played once in this campaign. His future now appears to be up in the air and he is believed to be on the radar of other teams, one being Newcastle.

Prior to his move to England, Keita made his name with Red Bull clubs Salzburg and Leipzig. He spent two years with the latter in the Bundesliga before landing himself a big transfer to Liverpool.
