Newcastle United fans and other supporters across the United Kingdom are searching for ways to get a refund after this weekend’s Premier League action was postponed as a mark of respect for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who sadly passed away on Thursday.

The Magpies sold out its away allocation at the London Stadium to watch their side take on West Ham United on Sunday afternoon, meaning match and train tickets have been paid for, as well as overnight hotel stays.

Can I get a refund on my match ticket?

Supporters should retain their existing West Ham away tickets as they will remain valid for the re-arranged fixture.

The club, once a new date is confirmed, will likely provide refund information for those unable to make the re-arranged encounter at the London Stadium.

Can I get a refund for my train tickets?

If you have booked directly with LNER, a “book with confidence” policy is provided.

That allows you to can change your tickets fee-free or request an eVoucher which is valid for 12 months.

You need to do this before 6pm the day before your original tickets are valid i.e. Saturday (September 19) evening for Newcastle fans.

If you no longer want to travel, you can request a refund depending on the type of ticket you bought and where you bought it. Refunds can take up to 28 days.

LNER are expected to provide more details, either on Friday or Saturday.

If you booked through Trainline, it seems a little more complicated.

Advance Single tickets cannot be refunded but they can be changed, although you must pay the price difference if one applies.

Flexible tickets (Off-Peak, Super Off-Peak and Anytime tickets) can be refunded online for an admin fee.

You have 28 days from the expiry of the ticket to request a refund.

If you have a mobile ticket and it has already been activated, you can no longer claim a refund on that journey.

To request either a change or refund, login in and click “My Bookings”.

Can I get a refund for my hotel?

Please check with your hotel directly.

For example, when booking at a Travelodge or Premier Inn, both companies offer a standard rate and flexible rate.

Standards rates are usually non-refundable. Flexible rates, however, allow for amendments or cancellations up until 12pm on arrival date.
