How Newcastle United’s jaw-dropping £1.3 billion squad could look - according to Football Manager

It’s all change at St. James’ Park, according to Football Manager 22.

For Newcastle United, the next few seasons could be the most exciting in the club’s history.

With new owners at the helm and Eddie Howe in the dugout, the Magpies have already shown signs of improvement in recent months, and are expected to be busy again when the transfer reopens this summer.

But what exactly does the future hold for the Toon Army going forward?

We took to Football Manager 2022 to find out.

The popular video game franchise is renowned for its meticulous detail and authentic approach to the world of, well, football management, and we thought we’d take a look into the future by fast forwarding to the end of the 2026 transfer summer transfer window.

For one thing, Howe is long gone, and has been replaced by Jose Mourinho. Silverware is still hard to come by, however, with just one FA Cup in the cabinet over the next few seasons.

Perhaps most notable is the extent to which the Magpies have recruited in the intervening years. Not a single member of Howe’s current squad remains, with a brand new playing staff on the books in the North East.
