The Magpies’ Premier League rivals are said to be up for sale.
The big breaking news in the Premier League week came out of Old Trafford as Manchester United’s owners revealed they are open to selling the club.
Controversy followed the Glazer family from the moment they completed their purchase of the 13-time Premier League champions 17 years ago. A statement revealed their controversial ownership could be set to come to an end as they stated the American owners’ are looking to identify “strategic alternatives” and ‘will consider a number of options “including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the company”.
With an asking price said to be set at anywhere between £5billion and £10billion, it seems unlikely Newcastle United’s Premier League rivals will be sold before they return to action after the World Cup Finals. But what does seem certain is that some big-hitters will come to the fore as one of world football’s most renowned clubs goes on the market.
But how does the Magpies’ owners compare to the current and possible owners at Old Trafford and to those around the Premier League?
