I asked AI to predict Newcastle United v Bournemouth in the Premier League - and here's the results
Like it or loathe it, we live a world where AI - or artificial intelligence - is creeping into every corner of society.
Long gone are the days of predictive text or autocorrect being your only daily dalliance with an industry that was formerly resigned to the big screen or fiction.

So, we asked X’s own AI, Grok, to get its crystal ball out and predict what would happen as Newcastle United take on Eddie Howe’s old club AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League at St James’ Park looking to make it a remarkable TEN wins in a row in all competitions. And here’s what it said.
The context
As has so often been the case recently, Grok AI, via X, is again predicting Newcastle United to come out on top in the encounter - but why?
It says: “Newcastle has been in excellent form, which could continue against Bournemouth. Their recent matches have shown a solid defensive structure combined with an effective attack, especially with players like Alexander Isak who has been in remarkable scoring form.”

It’s reasoning continues: “Newcastle playing at home typically boosts their performance due to crowd support and familiarity with the pitch.
“Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle, has a good understanding of how to exploit Bournemouth's weaknesses, having managed Bournemouth before. This insider knowledge could play a role in the game's outcome.
“Assuming no significant changes in team line-ups or injuries, Newcastle might have the edge with a more settled squad. However, if there are last-minute changes or key players missing, this could alter the prediction.”

So we know it’s a win, according to AI, but by what margin? Well, it’s going to be a tight one - and after a busy schedule could you expect anything less?
It believes Newcastle will run out 2-1 winners.
With, you guessed it, Alexander Isak likely to score given his recent form of scoring in eight consecutive matches. It also again believes Anthony Gordon, with his ‘recent history of scoring against Bournemouth’ will again add to his tally.
At the other end, it believes former Sunderland winger, and scorer last season, Antoine Semenyo will net for the Cherries.
