‘I never thought...’: Bruno Guimaraes opens up about major life change

Bruno Guimaraes has become a Newcastle United favourite since joining the club last season.

Quickly the midfielder established himself within the squad and city and, just over six months ago, welcomed his son Matteo into the world.

And now the Brazilian international has opened up about fatherhood and the impact his son’s birth has had on his life and career.

Emotionally posting to Instagram, Guimaraes said: ‘You bring out the best in me son! I never thought I’d love anyone the way I love you.

‘Thank you for being my shelter and nook of peace together with our family. In every moment of this life I will be proud to be your father and friend.

‘I love you Matteo.’

Matteo made his first appearance on the pitch at St James’ Park two weeks ago for United’s game against Southampton. Guimaraes carried his Geordie son onto the pitch alongside the other mascots before the match, saying: ‘A day to stay forever in my memory!

‘Immense happiness to enter with my son for the first time in our second home. Three more points on our walk. Thank you God for allowing me to live my dreams here.’
