Antoine Semenyo is reportedly the most likely Bournemouth player to leave the south coast this summer.

Newcastle United are one of several Premier League clubs understood to be expressing interest. A former Sunderland loanee, Semenyo has developed into one of England’s best right-wingers under Andoni Iraola.

The 25-year-old has seven goals and four assists in the Premier League this season. Semenyo was eye-catching in both of Newcastle’s games against Bournemouth - which included a 4-1 home defeat last month.

It is no secret that the Magpies are chasing a right-sided attacker since losing Miguel Almiron to Atlanta United in January. A short-term hit - which also saw Lloyd Kelly leave just seven months into his Toon career - is expected to have created PSR headroom for the upcoming summer window.

Club CEO Darren Eales told NewcastleWorld last week that the Magpies are in a strong financial position for the first time since those early post-takeover days. Various sources, including talkSPORT, have named Semenyo as a potential target to solve Eddie Howe’s right-sided dilemma.

Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed the winger - valued at around £50million - has genuine interest, although from which club was not specified. Interestingly, Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen was also named, another player linked with a potential St James’ Park switch.

"(Milos) Kerkez, (Dean) Huijsen, Semenyo... many Bournemouth players are attracting interest, but I don't think they will sell 3–4 players,” he told Give Me Sport. “Semenyo has chances to go as interest is there. But it's not something guaranteed now. The club will try to fight to keep him."

Eddie Howe confident Newcastle United heading in right direction

As mentioned, Newcastle published record revenues last week - up 28 per cent from the previous year. That will be music to supporters’ ears after three transfer windows without a major first-team signing.

Rewind to last June and the Magpies were at the mercy of PSR regulations, with Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh frantically sold to avoid a possible points deduction. Howe was delighted at Newcastle’s financial situation when grilled by the press last week.

“It’s good to see that the revenues are going the right way,” he said. “We’re doing what we can in terms of trying to expand all of our income growth.

“Yes, the club have said many times, they’ll always try to maximise the spending under the current rules - which is great to hear. A lot of progress made (so far), a lot of progress still to go.”

Signing a right-winger of Semenyo's calibre will certainly be a priority. Right-wing is a position Newcastle have not strengthened since the Saudi-backed takeover in October 2021.

Minteh, admittedly, did arrive but he never kicked a ball in black-and-white stripes before being sold to Brighton. Howe favours Premier League experience which could make the Bournemouth man a perfect fit for the Magpies.

Also linked with a possible Newcastle move is Brentford talisman Bryan Mbeumo and Celtic's Nicolas Kuhn. The Daily Record named the Magpies as a possible destination for the latter last month.
