Jamie Reuben agrees with Alan Shearer after Newcastle United's 5-0 win over Crystal Palace
There’s no stopping Newcastle United at the moment after a 5-0 demolition of Crystal Palace saw them record a sixth straight win.
The Magpies were 4-0 up the first-half with Jacob Murphy breaking the deadlock before Palace missed the chance to equalise when Eberechi Eze’s penalty was saved by Nick Pope. Almost immediately after, an own goal by Marc Guehi made it 2-0. Harvey Barnes and Fabian Schar then chipped in during stoppage time.

Among those watching on at St James’ Park was club legend Alan Shearer. Shearer was on punditry duty for Newcastle’s 4-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday but was able to enjoy the Palace win as a fan from his executive box in the Milburn Stand.
Reacting to the victory, Shearer wrote on X: “An outstanding performance from every single Toon player. Energy, confidence and belief in all positions ! Including the crowd”.
And Shearer’s sentiments appeared to be echoed by Jamie Reuben. The Magpies’ co-owner wrote ‘HWTL’ on X before the game but at full-time preferred to retweet Shearer, who, of course, is always on the money when it comes to opinions on the football club.

Assistant coach Jason Tindall has taken charge of Newcastle’s last two matches in the absence of Eddie Howe, who has been in hospital recovering from pneumonia.
“Full credit to the players, staff, everybody,” Tindall said. “As I said at the weekend, the fans also play their part, especially here at St James' Park. The players' attitude and mentality, the delivery of the tactical game plan has been excellent.
“To be able to go out there and execute it in the way that they have done, and to deliver the performances that they have done, to score them goals and to get their points.”
Tindall will again lead the team at Villa Park on Saturday. When asked if he had an update on Howe, he said: “No, other than what everybody knows. We know he's in the best possible hands, and the most important thing at this minute in time is that he rests, he recovers.
