Newcastle United co-owner Jamie Reuben has taken to social media to express his praise for head coach Eddie Howe.

Former Bournemouth and Burnley boss Howe celebrated one year in charge of the Magpies yesterday, and did so on the eve of tonight’s Carabao Cup encounter with Crystal Palace at St James’ Park.

In his 12 months, Howe has turned the Magpies from relegation contenders to Champions League hopefuls - and has done so in emphatic fashion, with Newcastle transforming themselves from a leaky, goal-shy outfit, into one of the meanest defensive units, and top-scoring XIs in the land.

The Howe revolution has not gone unnoticed in the halls of power at SJP, with Reuben, who owns a 10% stake in the football club, putting out his praise for the head coach, employed after the sacking of Steve Bruce last October.

Following up from an official NUFC Twitter post which was a picture of Howe, with the words: “One year of Eddie Howe as #NUFC manager!”, Reuben stated: “And what a year it was”, followed by a red love heart.

It was a sentiment which resonated with fans online, with scores posting their love for not only Howe, but also Reuben.

@MagpieGroupNUFC responded with the comment: "One of the best in the modern game."

While @Nige74928614 said: “What an ambassador of our club a total gentleman, grafter, mentally balanced, grounded, intelligent and man enough to own any mistake. Never thought I would ever look up to a younger person. On this occasion I'm proud to admit I look up to Eddie. Let's back him for the long term.”

And @Indiesingh6 took to Twitter to respond: “Thanks Jamie been an amazing year” while @bigsexynufc added: “It's only just begun. Thank you ⚫️⚪️.”

Who is Jamie Reuben?

Reuben, born in 1987, is the son of billionaire property tycoon David Reuben. The RB Sports & Media director owns a 10% stake in Newcastle United, alongside Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi’s PCP Capital Partners. Both RB and PCP’s stake is significantly less than majority owners, the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, who own 80% of the football club.

Reuben comes from the UK’s second richest family, with only inventor Sir James Dyson and family declaring more wealth on these shores.

The part-owner is a former director at Championship side QPR, where he worked between 2018 and 2020, before resigning prior to taking up his role at United.

Reuben has other business interests in the sports sector, owning Arena Racing, who run Newcastle Racecourse.
