Jason Tindall's expected Newcastle United starting XI vs Crystal Palace - second game in six days

Newcastle United expected starting XI against Crystal Palace.

Newcastle United will again be without their head coach for the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace tonight (kick-off 7:30pm).

Eddie Howe missed Sunday’s 4-1 victory over Manchester United after being admitted to hospital on Friday. A club statement on Monday confirmed Howe had been diagnosed with pneumonia and won’t be in the dugout for matches against Palace and Aston Villa this week.

Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will continue to lead the team in Howe’s absence.

“We’ve had almost minimal contact in terms of preparations but we know the expectations and demands that we put on each other and ourselves each and every day and it's going to have to remain that way until the manager is back,” said Tindall.

“But we know what we need to do, we know how we prepare and we need to prepare right to make sure that we can go and deliver performances, as I said, the weekend that the manager would be proud of.

“As we know, your health is the most important thing and that's why it's so important that when Eddie does decide to come back, he comes back and is able to lead the team as we know he does, day in, day out. He's fully recovered and I'm sure he will do. As I said, he's in the best possible hands right now.”

Newcastle have won their last five matches in all competitions and head into the game against Palace knowing a win would take them third in the table, five points inside the Champions League places with six games left to play.

United then travel to Aston Villa three days later. Given the quick turnaround, rotation could be key. Here’s how Newcastle United are expected to line-up versus Palace:
