Patrick Bamford and Luis Sinisterra are among the Leeds United players set to miss the Premier League clash at Newcastle United this afternoon (kick-off 3pm).

Bamford hasn’t featured since the Whites’ shock 2-1 win at Liverpool in October after needing to undergo groin surgery.

The visit to St James’ Park was mooted as a potential return date but boss Jesse Marsch has ruled the 29-year-old out.

Marsch said: “[Bamford is] Probably not in training until next week, hopefully Sunday [or] Monday.

“We know that Patrick can score goals in bunches. He’s proven that. He hasn’t been at 100 per cent since I’ve been here. He just hasn’t.

“That being said he’s created a tonne of chances. And it’s unfortunate that some of them haven’t fallen the way that he’s wanted.

“We’re hopeful that this diagnosis and this surgery can really be kind of a big part of the physical equation and solution for what’s necessary for Patrick.

“His attitude has been good, he’s doing everything he can and again, hopefully we get him going next week.”

Sinisterra is also having a spell on the sidelines after picking up a foot injury, while Archie Gray (ankle) and Stuart Dallas (broken leg) are continuing their recoveries.

Tyler Adams is expected to go straight back into the starting XI having missed the defeat to Manchester City through suspension. Marsch also hinted at a recall for Crysencio Summerville and Newcastle summer target Jack Harrison.

“Now we get Tyler Adams back, which we think will be a major boost for us. Hopefully Summerville and Harrison as well and then, we can look to push that game still physically in the way we want.”
