

Jonjo Shelvey and six others are an injury doubt for Newcastle United’s trip to Brighton
Jonjo Shelvey is expected to miss Newcastle United’s visit to Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend - and he might not be the only player missing.
According to Mail Online, the Magpies midfielder is facing up to three months on the sidelines after undergoing surgery in London over the weekend.
The 30-year-old picked up a hamstring injury during a pre-season friendly with Benfica and is set to miss the first half of the Premier League season.
If true, Shelvey won’t return until after the World Cup when the 2022-23 campaign resumes on Boxing Day.
Indeed, the former Liverpool man isn’t the only injury concern.
Ahead of United’s trip to Brighton on Saturday (kick-off), NewcastleWorld takes a look at the club’s current injury list:

1. Federico Fernandez - calf injury
Fernandez didn’t feature in any of United’s seven pre-season friendlies due to a calf injury.

2. Jamaal Lascelles - thigh injury

3. Emil Krafth - hamstring injury
Krafth was left out of the matchday squad against Forest after picking up a hamstring injury in training.

4. Jamal Lewis - calf injury
Was unable to play a part in Newcastle’s pre-season schedule due to a calf injury.
