Newcastle United return to Champions League this evening when they host Borussia Dortmund at St James’ Park (kick-off 8pm).
Eddie Howe’s side head into the match in a rich vein of form after Saturday afternoon’s 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace extended their unbeaten run to eight matches.
The likes of Joelinton and Alexander Isak returned from injury against The Eagles, and there’s been further positive news in the build-up to facing Dortmund this evening.
Joe Willock was captured in full training having spent the last five months on the sidelines, while Sandro Tonali also trained in front of the cameras at the club’s training base.
Latest reports in Italy suggest Tonali will be eligible to face Dortmund before serving a 10-month ban for alleged illegal betting offences.
Meanwhile, Dortmund have been dealt a late blow with right-back Julian Ryerson left behind in Germany because of injury. Indeed, Ryerson is one of several visiting players set to miss the Newcastle clash.
The Magpies currently sit top of Group F following a 0-0 draw in Milan and a 4-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain. Dortmund, meanwhile, are bottom but a victory on Tyneside will take them level on points with Newcastle.
