Late fitness blow as trio drop out: Newcastle United predicted starting XI v Chelsea

Newcastle United predicted starting XI v Chelsea as Premier League football returns after the two-week international break.

Eddie Howe will be forced into at least one change to his Newcastle United starting XI for this afternoon's Premier League clash versus Chelsea (kick-off 3pm).

Summer signing Lewis Hall started the 2-0 defeat to AFC Bournemouth last time out but is unable to feature against his parent club. The 19-year-old is on a season-long loan from the Blues before he completes a permanent switch next summer.

Howe says he has a "couple of options" at full-back, thought to include Tino Livramento, Emil Krafth and Paul Dummett amid an injury crisis.

Further up the pitch, Howe is keeping a close eye on Sean Longstaff. The Geordie midfielder picked up an ankle injury on the South Coast and his involvement today is subject to a late fitness test.

Bruno Guimaraes, however, is back from his one-match suspension while 17-year-old Lewis Miley also impressed on his first Premier League start.

In attack, Newcastle fans will be hoping to see Alexander Isak's name on the teamsheet. The club's record-signing has been sidelined for a month with a groin issue and the visit of Chelsea was earmarked as a return date.

When asked about the Swede at his pre-match press conference though, Howe stayed very coy.

"I don't want to give too much away," he said. Newcastle are currently without 10 senior players through either injury or suspension.
