Leeds United ‘thinking about’ move to Newcastle United in January transfer window

Newcastle United attempted to sign the Leeds United winger last summer.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton believes Leeds United star Jack Harrison is thinking about a move to Newcastle United ahead of the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old was a target for Eddie Howe last summer but the Whites rejected United’s reported £20million offer. CEO Angus Kinnear then poked fun at Newcastle, claiming the bid was “only enough for Jack Harrison’s right leg.”

After collecting 30 points from their opening 15 games, Howe’s side currently sit third in the Premier League table having lost just once this season. Leeds, meanwhile, are 15th, just two points above the relegation zone, with Harrison out of form, scoring once in 13 appearances.

“I think if Newcastle come calling, somewhere that you can see what they are doing, they are trying to build something, you would definitely want to be a part of that,” Harrison told Football Insider.

“I think from a Leeds point of view, they are still in a position that they are on the edge. I do not think that they would want to get rid of a player like that, even though [Crysencio] Summerville has come in and done really well.

“I think it is healthy to have that competition, to have more than one player available for the position. When you are used to playing week in and week out and then you lose your spot, the only thing you want to do is get back playing.

“So it is probably something that he will be thinking about.”
