Newcastle United's 2024 begins with an away trip to Premier League leaders Liverpool as they look to get their 2023-24 season back on track.
Despite 2023 being a memorable year for Newcastle, December has proven a tricky month with two cup exits - the Carabao Cup and Champions League - while six defeats in seven matches has also seen United slip to ninth in the top-flight table.
By contrast, Liverpool sit top, 13 points above their visitors, who haven't won at Anfield since 1994. Indeed, the Magpies' last win against Jurgen Klopp's side came at St James' Park in December 2015 when Steve McClaren was in charge.
Meanwhile, Eddie Howe has lost all five meetings versus the Reds as Toon boss, and his last 11 in total, dating back to his AFC Bournemouth days.
