Liverpool and Newcastle United go head-to-head at Anfield in what is the first Premier League fixture of 2024.
Jurgen Klopp's side are looking to strengthen their position at the top of the table having watched Arsenal suffer back-to-back losses to West Ham United and Fulham. The Reds are level on points with Aston Villa but have played one game fewer. Manchester City and Arsenal - both on 40 points - make up the top four.
As it stands, Newcastle are 11 points off Champions League qualification after struggling in December. Eddie Howe's men have lost six of their last seven matches, exiting Europe and the Carabao Cup, and slipping to ninth in the table.
United are in need of a reaction and they visit a ground they haven't won at since 1994. Indeed, the Magpies' last victory against Liverpool came in December 2015. Howe, as a manager, has lost his last 11 matches against the Reds.
