Liverpool set to drop key midfielder against Newcastle United as Jurgen Klopp considers three changes - predicted XI
Newcastle United host a Liverpool side hoping to climb top of the Premier League with three points at St James’ Park today.
Jurgen Klopp’s men travel to Tyneside in Saturday’s early kick-off (12:30) knowing a win will see them leapfrog Manchester City into 1st, who don’t play until later today at Leeds United.
The Reds are still chasing a historic quadruple following Wednesday’s 2-0 first leg Champions League victory over La Liga side Unai Emery.
With the second leg to come on Tuesday night, Klopp could be tempted to make changes in order to keep a freshness about his squad.
Klopp is anticipating a “difficult” game. He said: “It’s similar to a few years ago when we played in a semi-final and then in Newcastle when Divock Origi scored.
“It was one of those games where I didn’t understand what exactly was Newcastle’s problem, why do they not like us so much?
“The whole stadium was on fire and we have to expect that as well on Saturday. It will be tough but we have to make sure we are ready for that.”
Here’s Liverpool’s predicted starting XI to face Newcastle:
