Major injury news as Arsenal make two changes - predicted starting XI v Newcastle United

Arsenal’s predicted starting XI to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

Arsenal hope to have Gabriel Magalhaes available from the start against Newcastle United this afternoon (kick-off 4:30pm).

The Brazilian defender has been struggling with an ankle knock after being forced to withdraw during the Gunners’ 3-1 win over Chelsea on Tuesday night.

Gabriel wasn’t spotted in training pictures released by Arsenal on Saturday but remains likely to start - according to Goal.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Arteta said: “We will have to see tomorrow how he is, but yeah he could not finish the game so that was a big sign for us, We’ll have to see how he is tomorrow.”

After Manchester City beat Leeds United yesterday, Arsenal require a result to keep their Premier League title dream alive. Newcastle, meanwhile, are looking to take another giant step towards Champions League qualification.

When Arteta’s side visited St James’ Park last season in May, Eddie Howe’s side ruined their top four push after an own goal from Ben White and a strike from Bruno Guimaraes.

Here’s how Arsenal are predicted to line-up against Newcastle.
