Manchester United bidder ‘confident’ of takeover - his net worth v Newcastle United, Man City & Chelsea owners

The Manchester United takeover saga continues as Newcastle United and Premier League clubs watch on with a keen interest.

Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani remains confident his Manchester United takeover bid will be successful, despite reports that the Glazers are favouring selling a minority stake.

Fresh reports this week have claimed the Glazers are growing increasingly confident of remaining as owners with several parties interested in taking a minority stake in the Red Devils, including the Carlyle Group and Elliott Management.

Sheikh Jassim, however, wants majority control of the Old Trafford club, and is confident he will succeed, according to The Guardian.

Both Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe are understood to have signalled their intent to record takeover bids. A takeover offer over £3.75bn would break the world record fee for a sports club set when the NFL side Denver Broncos were sold to Walton-Penner group.

A successful takeover by Sheikh Jassim would see the Red Devils become the third Premier League club with ownership links to the Middle East after Manchester City (Dubai) and Newcastle United (Saudi Arabia).

Here’s the reported net worth of Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe - compared to Newcastle, Manchester City and other Premier League club owners.
