Manchester United team news ahead of the fourth round Carabao Cup tie with Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

Manchester United will check on the fitness of Casemiro and Aaron Wan-Bissaka ahead of Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup clash against Newcastle United (kick-off 8:15pm).

Casemiro picked up an ankle during the recent international break which has forced him to miss games against Sheffield United, FC Copenhagen and Manchester City.

Meanwhile, it was revealed Wan-Bissaka had returned to training last week but wasn’t risked against Pep Guardiola’s side. The right-back could be in line for a cameo appearance for the visit of Newcastle.

Man United remain without defensive trio Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, as well as former Sunderland loanee Amad Diallo.

Ten Hag’s side are looking to bounce back from their Manchester derby defeat, while Newcastle visit Old Trafford having drawn 2-2 at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

United head coach Eddie Howe has admitted he needs to be “very careful” with his team selection because of injuries and fatigue within his squad.

Alexander Isak (groin), Jacob Murphy (shoulder) and Elliot Anderson (back) all joined the injury list last week. Sven Botman (knee), Harvey Barnes (toe) and Lewis Miley (glandular fever) remain out.

Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali is unavailable for the next 10 months following an investigation into illegal betting.

“I’d be reluctant to say I’m not looking forward to the game and the game’s not a good one for us,” Howe told NewcastleWorld. “We’re in a cup competition and we want to try and progress. I won’t say that.

“I think we’ve got to be very careful with the team selection, we’ve got to try and get that right. We’re very, very thin on the ground in certain areas.”
