Manchester United are set to receive a welcome boost ahead of the Carabao Cup final - with Alejandro Garnacho close to signing a new long-term contract.

The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the breakout stars of the 2022-23 Premier League campaign. He’s made 27 appearances in all competitions and scored three goals.

Garnacho is out of contract in just under 18 months’ time, however multiple sources claim the Argentina under-20s international is on the verge of agreeing a five-year deal at Old Trafford.

As per ESPN, his weekly wage will reflect his new role in the team. All that needs to be finalised are some aspects relating to the player’s image rights.

That is major news for the Red Devils with Garnacho reportedly attracting interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

Garnacho, who is eligible to play for Spain and Argentine through his parents, joined the Red Devils from La Liga side Atletico Madrid in 2020.

The winger made his debut against Chelsea in April last year before breaking into the senior set-up on a regular basis in November.

Garnacho, however, is not guaranteed to start the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United on Sunday with Erik ten Hag recently welcoming Jadon Sancho back into the fold.
