The Newcastle United Supporters Trust (NUST) has hit out at Manchester United’s ticket pricing for the fourth round Carabao Cup tie next month.

Newcastle United travel to Old Trafford on Wednesday, November 1 in what is a repeat of February’s final at Wembley. The Magpies have received an away allocation of over 7,000 with the Red Devils charging £39 for an adult ticket.

That, coupled with the later kick-off of 8:15pm, which has prevented supporters from returning to the North East via public transport immediately after the game, has forced NUST into issuing a strongly worded statement.

“£39 for @ManUtd away in the @Carabao_Cup is scandalous and makes a mockery of the £30 @premierleague away ticket price cap,” NUST posted on X. “Add in a ridiculous kick off time - match-going fans taken for granted time and time again.”

Man United have upped their price by £9 from the previous round when they beat Crystal Palace.

Tickets for the visit to Old Trafford went on sale on Thursday.

“Newcastle United have been allocated more than 7,000 tickets for their Carabao Cup fourth round tie at Manchester United,” a Magpies statement read.

“And tickets for the 20:15 GMT kick-off at Old Trafford on Wednesday, 1st November are now on sale to season ticket holders with 25 or more away points.

Sales opened with that requirement at 14:00 BST on Thursday, 5th October and there will be incremental points drop every day (excluding weekends) at 14:00 BST each day, subject to availability.

“Following supporter consultation there will be a limited allocation open to season ticket holder ballot for those who do not meet the away points threshold. This ballot will go live after the final points drop and will be open for entry for 24 hours.

“Supporters will be asked to input card details. If they are successful in the ballot, payment will be taken and the season ticket holder will be notified by email. Those that are unsuccessful in the ballot will not be contacted and will not be charged.

“Tickets will be in the form of paper. Please note all tickets are for the sole use of the supporter making the purchase under their Newcastle United supporter number and are strictly non-transferable.

“There will be random spot checks at away stadiums throughout the season and failure to produce appropriate ID matching the purchaser supporter number will result in removal of your loyalty points and/or your season ticket being voided.”
