The 19-year-old was offered the chance to stay at Old Trafford having broke into the first-team picture last season. Forson made his full Premier League debut against Fulham in February and appeared a further six times as a substitute.

Forson was part of the squad that toured the United States last summer before making his senior debut away to Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup in January. Just over a month later, the England youth international was handed his first start, which ended in 2-1 defeat at home to Fulham.

His other first-team outings included cameos against Newport County and Coventry City in the FA Cup, and Manchester City and Arsenal in the Premier League. Prior to his full debut, Forson assisted Kobbie Mainoo’s winner in the 4-3 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

While the Red Devils have been trying to convince Forson to stay, journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed Newcastle United, Sunderland and Middlesbrough have all held talks with the young winger.

However, Forson has opted to move to Italy after agreeing a four-year deal with Monza, who finished 12th in Italy’s top-flight last season. Man United will be entitled to a compensation package having signed him from Tottenham Hotspur’s academy in five years ago.
