Erik ten Hag side’s arrived on Tyneside on Saturday ahead of this afternoon’s 4:30pm kick-off.
Man United’s top scorer was forced to withdraw from the England squad after picking up a toe injury in his side’s 3-1 FA Cup quarter-final win over Fulham last time out.
Rashford only took part in some light training at the beginning of the week but ten Hag is optimistic about the 25-year-old’s fitness.
“I’ve good hope, he trained but he had to do some treatment, he had to do some individual training, today he joined in with the group,” the Dutchman said. “We have one more day. I have a good hope he will be available.”
Ten Hag is also set to welcome back Anthony Martial, who hasn’t featured since January due to a thigh injury. He will, however, be without the suspended Casemiro and the injured Christian Eriksen, Donny van de Beek and Alejandro Garnacho.
It’s likely Rashford will be in the matchday squad - but is he fit enough to start? Here’s Manchester United’s predicted starting XI to face Eddie Howe’s side at St James’ Park.

2. GK: David de Gea
Hasn’t missed a league match this season and saw speculation about his future increase this week.

3. RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Started the last three prior to the international break and seems to have ousted Diogo Dalot as first-choice right-back.

4. CB: Raphael Varane
Not clear if the defender will be fit. Harry Maguire is likely to start if Varane isn’t available.
