Mehrdad Ghodoussi wants Newcastle United to smash the domestic attendance record when the Lady Magpies return to St James’ Park next month.

Newcastle United Women will play only their second-ever match at St James’ Park when they host Bradford City on Sunday, November 27. The fixture falls two weeks after the start of the Premier League’s break for the Qatar World Cup.

Manager Becky Langley: “We are thrilled to be back at St. James’ Park. The support we received at the stadium in May was incredible, and we hope as many supporters as possible can come along in November to make it another very special occasion.

“We are very proud to be championing women’s football in the region and that our players are such fantastic role models.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase women’s football in the North East and we hope to continue inspiring a new generation of girls and women to play and enjoy the game.”

More than 22,000 supporters attended the inaugural match at the stadium in May 2022, which ended in a 4-1 victory over Alnwick Town.

And Ghodoussi has set the next attendance bar high after tweeting: “Let’s beat that 47k record...”

Indeed, the Magpies co-owner is referring to the 47,367 fans that watched the Women’s Super League game between Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur last month.
