Former Newcastle United striker Michael Owen has described Magpies strikers Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson as ‘two of the best finishers in the league’.

Isak is the man in form and he will head into Wednesday night’s Champions League group stage clash with Paris Saint-Germain looking to find the net for a fourth consecutive game after he was on target in Premier League wins over Burnley and Sheffield United, as well as last week’s Carabao Cup victory against Manchester City.
Owen admitted he has been impressed with the Sweden international and suggested both he and Wilson can be ranked alongside City star Erling Haaland when it comes to their ability in front of goal.

“Not necessarily just striking the ball, but I think if you’re a striker or any player for that matter, to be able to manipulate the ball with both feet, almost feint to shoot with the right and hit with the left, or vice versa like Isak did there. I think it’s a huge skill to have.
“You could argue that Newcastle have got two of the best finishers in the league actually. Whenever I see them close in on goal I think that’s a goal. Of course there’s Haaland, he’d be right up there as well. But there’s not many that jump out off the page to me when I think all round classy finishers, than the two Newcastle lads.”
Isak seems likely to be handed another chance to shine against PSG as there is a slight doubt over Wilson’s availability as he struggles with a thigh injury.
