VAR has caused plenty of controversy since its introduction to the Premier League in 2019

VAR was introduced in the Premier League in 2019 - and there have been plenty of contentious moments in that time. The most recent for Newcastle United came in their 1-0 win over Arsenal as Anthony Gordon's goal had three separate checks before being confirmed by Stockley Park after being awarded on the field.
