Newcastle United currently sit eighth in the Premier League table - but where are Eddie Howe's side expected to finish come May?

The Magpies claimed their first win at St James' Park in 2024 on Saturday afternoon after beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0. Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon netted first-half goals before Tino Livramento wrapped up a comfortable victory in stoppage time.

As a result, United moved ahead of Wolves in the Premier League table and hopes of sealing European qualification are building. However, Manchester United, West Ham United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea are also in the race.

"The target for us is to try and re-find our best form as quickly as possible and I think if we can we have a chance of winning a lot of games and we'll see where that takes us," said Howe when asked about chasing down the European spots.

"But it's all about finding our best levels. They weren't there today [v Wolves] but I think it was close."

Newcastle will now enjoy a nine-day break before visiting Chelsea on Monday, March 11 before switching their attention to the FA Cup quarter-final tie away to Manchester City.
