Newcastle United are jetting off to Japan for a week-long tour of Tokyo as part of their preparations for the new Premier League season.

Eddie Howe’s side have opened up their pre-season campaign with back-to-back wins against Germain third side SpVgg Unterhaching and Championship outfit Hull City. Next up are J-League clubs Urawa Red Diamonds and Yokohama F. Marinos.

The Magpies have operated with somewhat depleted team during the opening fortnight of pre-season with a number of senior players missing, either because of fitness or being handed extra time off following their international commitments.
