Newcastle striker Chris Wood has picked up an injury blow on international duty.

He was taken off during New Zealand’s game against Australia.

As per a report by the Northern Echo, the former Burnley man appeared to pick up an injury to his rib and will now be ‘assessed’ ahead of next weekend’s game.

Canada boss reveals he is a Newcastle fan

Canada boss John Herdman has revealed he is a Newcastle supporter.

The Englishman will be leading the Maple Leafs to the World Cup in Qatar this winter.

He has told the Daily Mail he swithed Premier League sides when he was younger:

“I was actually a Man United fan at the time (when he was younger) My dad was Newcastle daft. I liked Brian Robson, he was from Chester-Le-Street. I just remember him being like the England hero at the time, Captain Marvel.”

Ex-player in talks over new move

Former Toon Army loan man Danny Rose is in discussions over a move to Wigan Athletic.

He had a loan spell in the North East during the 2019/20 season from Tottenham Hotspur.

The left-back is now in ‘talks’ over a switch to the DW Stadium, as reported by The Sun.
