Newcastle United social media uproar as image leaked - 'the worst I've seen'

Newcastle United are yet to unveil their home shirt for the 2026-27 season - but here's what it's expected to look like.

Newcastle United’s 2026-27 home shirt has been leaked as supporters await its official unveiling.

The Magpies have yet to confirm any information regarding their new home shirt, but images of what it is expected to look like have circulated online over the weekend.

And it has already divided opinion among fans, as photos from football kit experts Footy Headlines show the club's traditional black and white stripes with a controversial twist.

Newcastle United 2026-27 home kit leaked

As you will see from the image below, Adidas and Newcastle chiefs have gone with a distinct black stripe down through the centre of the shirt, with thinner black lines inside the white stripes on either side.

The Magpies incorporated a blue trim into this season’s home top, though next season is far more striking around the collar, shoulders and sleeves.

When will Newcastle United’s 2026-27 home kit be released?

That is still to be confirmed, but The Gazette understands the release is unlikely before the end of the campaign. As we reported last week, Newcastle are still deciding on a new front-of-shirt sponsor.

Sela, a Saudi Arabian sports event agency, has been the club’s FOS sponsor since the beginning of the 2023-24 season, replacing Chinese betting firm Fun88. However, their reported £25million-per-season deal expires this summer.

Eddie Howe’s side only have two games remaining, playing host to West Ham United on Sunday before travelling to Fulham on the final day.

Newcastle United fans react to shirt leak

We asked Newcastle fans on our Facebook page what they thought about the new kit design, and the response was mixed.

Paul Carr: People don't like change, think they'll love it when they get used to it.

Graham Diego Wilson: Weirdly, I think, I like it, especially the touches of blue.

Orijinaru Uranijiro: If we don’t get called barcodes now, we certainly will then.

Graeme Thompson: Worst one we've ever had.

Stephen Mooney: I think the worst I’ve seen. Can’t remember a home shirt as bad as that!!

Gary Flatman: It's different, but there's only so much you can change with a black and white striped shirt, that hasn't been done before.
