Newcastle United could draw up a “substantial offer” to sign Brazilian wonderkid Andrey Santos, according to reports from France.

As per Jeunes Footeux, the Magpies are one of several clubs chasing the Vasco de Gama midfielder, who has made quite the impression since breaking into the first team.

Earlier this month, the Brazilian club’s director, Paulo Bracks, confirmed that several clubs have approached the teenager, but also stated that his side have not received any offers for the player thus far.

He said: “There is no proposal on the table. Many people approached him. A lot of people who shouldn’t, by the way.

“Andrey is a Vasco player, with a secure contract. If there is a possibility to negotiate, we will. But not this year.”

That could soon change, however, according to the latest reports from France.

Jeunes Footeux claim that Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and European giants FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested in the player.

In particular, PSG sporting director Luis Campos is said to regard him as a priority target for the Ligue 1 champions.

With that in mind, Barca are understood to be the first club to make contact with Vasco de Gama over a potential deal for Santos, who is valued at around £26 million.

Competition could come from both Newcastle and Villa, however, who are both said to be willing to put together “substantial offers” for the young South American.

So far this season, Santos has made 24 appearances in the heart of midfield for Vasco de Gama, scoring five goals and helping his side to fourth in the table.
