Newcastle United are being blamed for another team’s relegation battle

Nottingham Forest fans have taken to Twitter to voice their anger at January signings Chris Wood and Jonjo Shelvey.

The pair joined the midlands team from Newcastle United in the last transfer window- Wood initially joined on loan however the move was made permenant after his third appearance for the club saw them trigger a £15m transfer.

But Forest fans are far from pleased, with many claiming Shelvey in particular is single-handely responsible for the clubs 18th place position.

One fan wrote: ‘Shelvey has almost single-handedly gotten forest into this relegation mess... He completely neutralises MGW with his long balls and is the worst at defending in the squad.’

Another said: ‘All Shelvey has done so far since signing has cost us points by stupid mistakes. The guy is a liability!’

Fans have also taken aim at Newcastle United, with one user writing: ‘#NUFC single handedly sending us down this season with the transfers of Wood and Shelvey’

While another tweeted: ‘Newcastle have beat us 2-0, beat us in stoppage time, and gave us Chris Wood and Shelvey in one season’

Wood is out for the rest of the season with a thigh injury, however Shelvey features consistently in the matchday squad.

It seems, however, many fans wish he didn’t.
