Newcastle United have once again been linked with a move for one of Serie A’s most consistent left-backs - but they will reportedly face competition from Inter and Juventus.

Brazil Under-20 defender Carlos Augusto has been a key player for Monza as they continue to adjust well to life in Italy’s top tier after securing promotion with a play-off final win against Pisa just over a year ago. Since making his top flight debut in a 2-1 home defeat against Torino in August, Augusto has gone on to score six goals and provide five assists in 31 league appearances so far this season as his side have settled in mid-table, securing impressive wins against the likes of Juventus and Fiorentina along the way.

Augusto will head into the final 12 months of his current deal at Monza this summer and there has been speculation he could be allowed to depart the Brianteo Stadium if a suitable offer is received. Italian outlet CalcioMercato has suggested Inter and Juventus are willing to offer him a chance to step up to the upper reaches of Serie A but Newcastle are also named as a possible destination and are preparing ‘a proposal’ for Monza after monitoring the 24-year-old in recent months.

Newcastle and Liverpool ready to make £42m offer for Bayern Munich star

Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has been linked with a move to the Premier League - with Newcastle and Liverpool both said to have submitted offers for the Dutch star.

Just under 12 months have passed since the 20-year-old joined the Bundesliga giants from Ajax in a reported £14m move - however, his first season at Allianz Arena has been viewed as underwhelming after he has made just five starts in all competitions during the campaign.

Speculation surrounding a move away from Bayern has increased in recent weeks and Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb has suggested Gravenberch ‘likes’ the idea of a move to the Premier League as he struggles to make an impact with Bayern. Althought the German champions have not named an asking price, Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester United are all said to have ‘concrete interest’ in the Dutchman.
