Jamie Reuben has named Alan Shearer as his dream Newcastle United signing after revealing he would have loved to have seen the Magpies legend score at St James’ Park.
After starting his senior career at Southampton before lifting the Premier League title with Blackburn Rovers, the Gosforth-born striker returned home in July 1996 for a then world-record fee of £15million.

Speaking to the Business of Sport podcast, co-owner Reuben was asked to name his dream Newcastle signing. He stayed clear of naming any current players and opted for Shearer, who retired 17 years ago.
Reuben, however, did backtrack on his initial choice of Pele, who is the only player in history to win three World Cups.
“Who would be great in this team today because we have two amazing Brazilian boys in Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton... any player from history I’d love to have is Pele,” Reuben said. “I know how much it would mean to those two, and then the outpost at Newcastle would be so fun.”
