Hide AdEddie Howe’s side dominated possession and created a host of chances but at one stage, it had a feeling of being one of those days.
However, that quickly changed when Fabian Schar rocketed a shot past Dean Henderson from distance on 58 minutes.
Callum Wilson then doubled United’s advantage 12 minutes before the end to wrap up three points for United.
Watching from the stands, as always, was the club’s owners of Amanda Staveley, Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Jamie Reuben.
