Newcastle United have confirmed that Mo Sangare has left the club and re-joined League One side Accrington Stanley.

The 23-year-old midfielder announced via his Instagram page last month that he was leaving the Tyneside club after seven years with his contract up in the summer.

He said: “First page of my football book has been written.

“Firstly I want to thank everyone at @nufc for making me the person I am today.

“Coming to the club aged 16 and also being new in the country wasn’t easy but I can say I am proud of the person I have become on and off the pitch.

“It’s been a bumpy road full with lots of ups and downs, however my time at NUFC has come to an end. All the memories, friends, staff, I will never forget. It’s been a pleasure.

“Time to go show the world what mo is about #letsgo.”

On Tuesday, it was confirmed that the five-capped Liberia international had joined Stanley ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Sangare, who never made a first-team appearance for United, played four times for Accrington during a loan spell last season.

“I couldn’t wait to come back,” Sangare said on his move. “It’s an opportunity and I took it.

“This place was like home when I was first here, it all started here, and it will be good to play in front of the fans.

“I only played four games and I feel I have unfinished business. I need people to see what I am capable of and what I can do and coming back here and being injury free (hopefully) will show the people what they missed.”

Sangare, born in Monrovia, moved to England at the age of 14 and previously attended Accrington and Rossendale College.
