Eddie Howe had considered other left-back options, including Atletico Madrid’s Renan Lodi, however have pushed forward with signing Targett following Dan Ashworth’s arrival as sporting director.

Targett played every minute of the 16 games he was available during his successful loan spell. During that time, he proved to be a reliable Premier League performer and an integral part of the side that retained its top-flight status.
