Newcastle United are set to have Joelinton’s available for Sunday afternoon’s Premier League at home to Liverpool (kick-off 4:30pm).

The Brazilian limped out of the 1-0 defeat at Manchester City last weekend on the hour-mark and Eddie Howe revealed his concern after the game.

However, speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Magpies’ head coach provided a positive update.

Howe said: “Joe is fine. We didn’t see him in the early part of the week but trained in the latter part so fingers crossed he’s OK. “

Javier Manquillo is also expected to return training today after missing the opening two games against Aston Villa and Man City.

“He’s back with us,” Howe confirmed. “He went for a period of treatment abroad but he’s back and hopefully he’ll train today.

United remain without Emil Krafth and Joe Willock, although the latter is making good progress and is on course to resume training during the September international break.

Howe revealed: “He’s making good progress. I’d say this is probably the strongest he’s looked in terms of his hamstring. I think he had his hamstring re-scanned a couple of days ago and the report back on that scan was very, very good, no problems.

“He had a bit of fatigue in his hamstring, I don’t think there was a major re-injury but he’s doing really well and committed to his work. We hope he’ll be training with us around the international break time. He’s a massive player.
