Newcastle United confirm the arrival of former Arsenal key figure

Newcastle United’s off-field rebuild is growing in numbers following Peter Silverstone’s appointment as Chief Commercial Officer.

Newcastle United have confirmed Peter Silverstone’s appointment as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). Silverstone has almost two decades of commercial experience in football, seven years of which were spent at Premier League rivals Arsenal.

Silverstone, Glasgow-born, joined the Gunners in 2015 as Business Development Director before moving over to the executive team as Commercial Director and then Chief Commercial Officer.

During his time at the Emirates, Silverstone led several successful commercial initiatives, including the club’s partnership with Adidas, the Visit Rwanda sleeve sponsor, as well overseeing the rapid growth of Arsenal’s e-commerce business.

He also drove the commercial focus on the Arsenal Women’s team and the initiative to bring an increased number of women’s matches to the Emirates Stadium during the 2021/22 season.

Establishing partnerships and growing Newcastle United Women are two huge focuses for sporting director Dan Ashworth and chief executive Darren Eales, so both will benefit from Silverstone’s arrival.

Silverstone has experience on various Premier League, Football Association and European Club Association groups and committees. Prior to joining Newcastle, he was Senior Vice President of Global Development at OneFootball, the world’s largest football media platform.
