Newcastle United confirmed starting XI v AC Milan: £20m star recalled as Martin Dubravka starts

Newcastle United's confirmed starting XI v AC Milan: Martin Dubravka starts after a bout of illness.

Newcastle United's starting XI against AC Milan features one change from Sunday's 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Callum Wilson is recalled to the line-up following his injury return with Alexander Isak handed a breather. The Swede had previously started five matches in quick succession.

Martin Dubravka has shrugged off a bout of illness to keep his place in goal. Anthony Gordon was another concern after missing training on Tuesday but he also starts.

On the bench, Sean Longstaff is named alongside Dan Burn, who is back in the matchday squad for the first time in five weeks.

The Champions League Group F permutations are simple. If the Magpies win and Paris Saint-Germain drop points away to Borussia Dortmund, then a place into the last 16 of the competition is secured.

But regardless of PSG's result, avoiding defeat against the Italian giants at St James' Park will at least guarantee a place in the Europa League. Lose, and United drop out of Europe for the second half of the campaign altogether.

Milan too have everything to play for. If they win and PSG lose in Germany, then it will be Stefano Pioli's side who clinch second spot in the group.
