Newcastle United confirmed starting XI v Liverpool: Kieran Trippier blow as £75m duo recalled

Newcastle United's confirmed starting XI v Liverpool: Magpies without Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson.

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has made two changes to his starting XI for tonight's Premier League clash at Liverpool (kick-off 8pm).

And one of those changes is enforced with Kieran Trippier dropping out through injury. Tino Livramento starts in the England international's place at right-back. The other sees Miguel Almiron drop to the bench with Joelinton recalled.

Martin Dubravka retains his place in goal behind a back four of Livramento, Fabian Schar, Sven Botman and Dan Burn, who captains his boyhood club an Anfield this evening.

Bruno Guimaraes, Lewis Miley and Sean Longsstaff continue as the midfield three with Joelinton, Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak in attack.

There's no Callum Wilson for United, who joins Trippier in the treatment room.

United haven't won at Anfield since 1994, while Howe has lost his 11 last matches against the Reds. Jurgen Klopp's side sit top of the Premier League table, 13 points above Newcastle.

Howe's men start 2024 in difficult form having lost six of their last seven matches in all competitions, exiting both the Champions League and Carabao Cup, and slipping to ninth in the table.
