Newcastle United confirmed starting XI v Tottenham Hotspur: £53m double change as Lewis Hall drops out

Newcastle United’s starting XI to face Tottenham Hotspur has been announced.

Newcastle United’s starting XI against Tottenham Hotspur features two changes from last weekend’s 1-0 win at Fulham.

Harvey Barnes comes into the side for Lewis Hall while Elliot Anderson replaces the injured Joe Willock. Hall drops to the bench having missed training during the week with a quad issue. Tino Livramento is back with the squad after two weeks out with an ankle injury.

There is some confusion as to how Newcastle are set-up defensively. Fabian Schar and Dan Burn are likely to continue as the centre-back pairing with Jacob Murphy dropping into right back and Emil Krafth moving over to left-back.

Newcastle host Ange Postecoglou’s men having picked up seven points from nine in their three matches since the international break.

The Magpies hammered Spurs 6-1 in last season’s fixture having been 5-0 up inside the opening 21 minutes after braces from Jacob Murphy & Alexander Isak, and a goal from Joelinton.

United, however, lost the previous meeting between the two sides as Spurs ran out comfortable 4-1 winners at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in December.

United currently sit eighth in the Premier League table, one point behind West Ham United in seventh with a game in hand.
