Newcastle United confirmed starting XI vs Tottenham: Bruno Guimaraes, Alexander Isak & Kieran Trippier calls made

Newcastle United starting XI to take on Premier League rivals in Melbourne has been announced.

Eddie Howe has named his Newcastle United starting XI to take on Tottenham Hotspur at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) this morning (kick-off 10.45am BST).

And the Magpies’ head coach has opted for three changes from Sunday’s final Premier League day win at Brentford, a victory that secured a top seven finish. European qualification, however, is dependent on Manchester United losing the FA Cup final to Manchester City.

In comes Kieran Trippier, who was named in England’s provisional squad for this summer's Euro 2024 finals on Tuesday, for the injured Fabian Schar while Elliot Anderson and Miguel Almiron replace Sean Longstaff and Jacob Murphy.Longstaff didn’t travel Down Under as he rests his foot. Meanwhile, Murphy takes his place on a 14-man bench.

Also among the substitutes is Australian teenager Garang Kuol, who joined Newcastle from A-League side Central Coast Mariners in January 2023. He could make his debut in his homeland. Meanwhile, Harrison Ashby, who spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Swansea City, is also on the bench.

Paul Dummett, Matt Ritchie, Aidan Harris and Ellis Stanton aren’t named in the matchday squad, despite making the visit to Australia. Here’s Newcastle United’s starting XI and subs in full:
