Newcastle United are reportedly considering a summer move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The Danish international has been identified as a key signing by the Magpies hierarchy as they look to strengthen Eddie Howe’s squad during the close-season.
Hojbjerg has been a pivotal figure under Spurs manager Antonio Conte after making 31 Premier League appearances for the North London club this season.
The Mirror have reported former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is keen to take the powerful midfielder to Roma - but Newcastle are also hopeful of securing his services during the summer.
Key Magpies target prefers Bundesliga move
Hugo Ekitike is set to hand a severe blow to Newcastle’s summer recruitment plans - according to German newspaper Bild.
The young French forward was targeted by the Magpies during January and is thought to have decided against a move to Tyneside in the final hours of transfer window.
The interest in the Reims forward remains alive and United have dispatched scouts to watch Ekitike throughout the second half of the season.
However, the £20million-rated forward is also being targeted by Borussia Dortmund and is believed to favour a move to the Bundesliga giants.
The report suggests Ekitike will reject any possible move to the Premier League and has his heart set on replacing Erling Haaland should the Norwegian frontman leave Dortmund this summer.
Turkish stopper linked with move to Newcastle once again
It seems likely Eddie Howe will look to refresh his goalkeeping options this summer - and a new target is in the frame to move to Tyneside.
Turkish outlet HaberTS have reported Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir is being monitored by the Magpies and Premier League rivals Leeds United.
The Turkey international has kept 11 clean sheets in 32 appearances this season and is thought to be valued at around £15million by his club.
