And, as a result, there is a desire to recruit yet more matchday stewards and turnstile operators, to deal with the increased volume of fixtures.

Newcastle are running a recruitment open day to fill the vacancies. This will take place on Saturday, June 4, between 10am and 4pm at the Park Grill, in the Leazes End, at the ground.

Attendees will be asked to complete an application form and will undergo a short interview for the post. If successful, applicants must then be available on July 15 for an induction course and then again from July 22 onwards for training days.

Matchday stewards must be over the age of 18 and will be required to pass a DBS check. Relevant role training will be provided.
